I got the opportunity to work with a wonderful trio of ladies, a mother and her two grown daughters. Working with them reminded me that a mother’s love, worry, hope, and joy never fades, no matter how old her children gets. Her unconditional love begins during pregnancy and lasts for as long as she lives. I loved getting to witness their love for one another. It came through in every picture and those are my favorites. A picture without emotion is a mere piece of paper, no matter how flawless it may look. When the emotion within touches your soul, it’s beautiful beyond words.
I tell my client’s stories one picture at a time. This was from a maternity session I did this past weekend. During, it got me thinking about how the love for your child begins long before birth. During those months that the baby grows within the womb, a bond is already forming and by the time they’re born, that foundation of love is solid. I loved being a part of their story.
Winter was slow, but now that spring is upon us, things are picking up!!! I’m excited to see what this year has in store for me!!
This weekend, I’m doing a fashion show photo shoot at a six year old’s birthday party, an outdoor maternity session, and two wedding contract signings. This is just the beginning!!!
I’ll have a booth at the Farmer’s Market in our small town a few dates this year, hoping to get my name out there more. I have a feeling things are going to get even better for my little business. I’m looking forward to meeting many more wonderful people and creating lifelong memories for them. ❤
As I sit here reflecting on 2017 and how my business and I have grown, I wanted to share some of the highlights of the past year.
I did my first weddings, newborn sessions – including my first Fresh 48 session, cake smash sessions, and other firsts. It truly was an amazing year. Thanks for being a part of It!
And now onto 2018! Here’s to another wonderful year, may it be even better than the last!! I hope to work with you and your family!
Time flies by so quickly, faster than many of us would like. To be able capture the precious moments of our lives so that we have a way to hold onto them is a gift, one I try to appreciate.
Many depend on me to give them a tangible way to preserve their memories and that is something we photographers should never take lightly. Once a moment is gone, it can never really be recaptured. So, we have to be ready and poised to get as many amazing moments on camera as we can.
It’s our job to give our clients wonderful memories. What we do is far more than just: sit, smile, and oh snap! It’s about more than just hours of editing, trying to perfect the images we took. It’s about more than lighting, props, and location. It’s about giving them an experience they will enjoy and then being able to look back at those moments for years to come.
Over the years, many have asked me why I take so many pictures. One of the biggest reasons is this, the memories within our minds fade over time. We forget what faces look like and moments spent with loved ones. We also sometimes drift apart as time goes on and people we love leave us. Pictures are a way to hold onto the memories we cherish most and keep them fresh within our minds, should we forget, we can just look at them and remember.
One huge reason I started my photography business was to create lifelong memories for others. From couples and families to weddings and graduations, I want to help others keep their most precious memories vivid for years to come. Right now, I have gotten quite the chance to do just that for people. The joy on their faces that I get to look back at remind me why I do this. When they share their pictures with loved ones, hang them on their walls, and look at them from time to time, I have done my job. 🙂
Love is all around us, we just have to have our eyes open to see it. When we do see it, it is an amazing sight to behold. The love felt between these two was so obvious to anyone truly looking. It was my honor to be a part of their special day. Sharing in their laughter and celebrating their amazing love was a great gift.
You only have one day, one shot to really get things right when doing a wedding. If you mess up a family, newborn, or senior picture session, you can reschedule and do it again. With a wedding, if you mess up, there’s no going back. It’s a lot of pressure for any vendor. Pictures are a couple’s way of looking back on their big day and treasuring those memories for years to come. I don’t know if I did a perfect job, but I would like to think I did capture the joy and love felt that day.
My goal is to keep booking more and more photo shoots and weddings, also to keep practicing and learning, so that my skills will keep improving. No matter what, I do hope to keep providing a wonderful experience for my clients. I want them to look back on working with me and smile. What a photographer does is about so much more than taking good pictures. It is about giving them an amazing session, one they enjoyed, where the smiles and laughter aren’t forced, but natural. It is our job to make sure they leave the session feeling relaxed and happy. Here’s to your smiles today, so that they can be ones you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
School is well under way now. Some have already had homecoming and others will be soon. Before we know it, Christmas break will be here and high school students will be preparing for first semester finals. Blink again and it’ll be time for prom and then comes graduation.
For high school seniors, I imagine time both drags on and flies by quicker than anticipated more than others. Soon they’ll be adults and on their own. Many will go off to college, some straight to the military, and some will still be uncertain of their plans. Some will take a year off to travel, have fun, or save money.
Eighteen and ready to go, what direction that is in will vary. Every senior I’ve talked to has vastly different plans, but all with very promising futures. I wish every one of them a long, happy, and successful adult life. Go get ’em, Class of 2018!
I had two back to back weddings this month. Both couples were absolutely amazing. You could feel the love between them, in the way they treated and looked at one another. It was an honor to be a part of their special days.
Sometimes love seems fleeting, like people are constantly in and out of relationships. Sometimes it looks to others like true love isn’t real, like it’s just a fairy tale. There are couples that remind us that love isn’t an illusion, that it is real and can last a lifetime. 💞
My son started high school on September 5th. I wanted to capture his last day of summer vacation in a unique way. Do you have kids in school? How are they adjusting to the new school year? Sessions like these can be a fun way to escape homework, teachers, and those hallowed halls for a little while. If you know someone that would be interested, check out my site: http://www.facebook.com/carissagrayphotography to see more of my work. Here is to an amazing year ahead. The sky is the limit!
